Wednesday we had a meeting with Brad and Karen from Tangatours regarding the 2 mini websites, to which they only had minor ajustments. We also had a farewell dinner and bridge climb, with most of the people from Riverlife and Tangatours.

The other days we used to discuss SEO and teaching Nicole how to use and update the CMS system WordPress, we also discussed the option of having a picture gallery on the Tangalooma dive site, however, we decided they could upload the pictures themselves, and add whatever text they want.

Friday was a holiday, so we had that one off, which we used for packing our suitcases and getting ready to take the bus early saturday morning.

We’re currently speaking to Alex (she’s a girl, btw.) from Websitetravel, almost every day on skype, or on the telephone, constantly giving feedback on various stuff that needs changing. The new website for www.tangatours.com.au should launch shortly after we’ve finished the internship – however i suspect it make take longer, as Websitetravel are a very long time about making the changes we’re asking for. John even discussed with Nicole about the need for them to step up, or they might have considered choosing another company to create the templates.

However John and Nicole needs the backend system where all the companies around australia, updates their products w. text and pictures (which we corrected locally) and prices – and the whole purchase-system that’s included. Also, Nicole knows Alex from her days working with backpackers.

2Australia’s current progress, headed in the right direction but not quite there yet. We emailed them our logo at least 6 weeks ago, and it’s still not uplaoded:

However, we didn’t cut down on the information, but added some information from the questions we asked the employers on Moreton Island, and uploaded our own pictures, making sure there were at least 7-8 pictures to each product/activity.

We’re still waiting for the creators of the CMS system (Websitetravel) to do both the visual changes we discussed 7 weeks ago, but also some backend stuff; for example when we create a subpage, it doesn’t turn up – making it hard to edit the structure of the site, to the sitemap we created.

Atm. Websitetravel’s editing the visuel design to something else than discussed – and changing the headlines from only big letters to a variation of big and small – making our job harder as we have to change spacing, and wording again.

We’re still having some issues with water on our office, from a leaking roof. At the end of the day it’s impossible to sit anywhere without getting wet feet – they tried to fix it, however they had a company who rented their meeting facility – so they had to stop because of the noise.

Thursday we arranged a meeting with Alex from WebsiteTravel, who we also are on skype with, who gave us an instruction on how the site works backend. Most of it we already figured out, while some other things only the people at WebsiteTravel can fix.

We’re almost done with the mini-sites as well, (tangaloomadive.com & tangaloomamassageandbeauty.com) having gone through all the information Brad and Karen sent us, and now only missing a few price tags, and a few pictures.

The videos are done aswell – they have music and have been uploaded to Tanga Waterports (a part of Tangatours) youtube channel. For the music we used youtube’s own collection of music.

I have also been having a cold most of the week, Isabel as well, hers nearly gone, and mine just gotten worse.

Regarding the websites, I’ve been working in the evening as well, in order to make the websites (tangaloomadive.com and tangaloomamassageandbeauty.com) presentable for a meeting on Moreton Island with Brad and Karen, who is to be the owners of the (not so) mini-sites. They liked the design, and the work we’ve done on it so far, and had additional information which they’re sending to us in a email, regarding prices, Dive trips, Terms and Conditions, etc.

On the Island, besides the meeting in the evening with Brad and Karen, we also recorded video and took pictures of the Massage and Beauty place, as well as the Scubba Divers jumping into- and getting out of the water – to use for the website and the video for youtube.

There’s still a lot of work to do on the (not so) mini-sites. Brad and Karen would like a booking system as well, but perhaps later, they will have links externally to either the Riverlife or Tangatours site, where there will be a online booking option.

Besides the stuff we’re doing, John and Nicole have been coming into our office to ask us to do additional stuff, like; making clips around 30-60 seconds which in total gives around 10 minuts of footage which they can put on the TV screen at TangaTours on Moreton Island.

I’m learning a lot about wordpress, even through i’ve been using it a couple of times before; such as security, and overall modifying wordpress and creating child themes.
I talked to Nicole anout how they handle the webshop integration – on Tangalooma Dive, and Wild Dolphin Massage & Beauty, they want to have direct links to Riverlifes site where it will be handled. But 2Australia and AMI, they are using http://www.websitetravel.com/ who have a database with different activities, and booking options.

The only place with internet, was one computer located in the reception of Tangatours, and it didn’t work that well, especially when the weather was bad (like it was most of the week).

As a part of our internship, John suddenly wanted us at Moreton Island, last sunday, besides the whole week next week – to meet Brad and Karen, the owners of Tangatours, which are located on Moreton Island, and is offering activities as well.
We had a good talk with them about the website which we’re currently working on, they are keeping the logo, but we have decided that the colours (orange, blue, black and white) could work with the new design. So they’re keeping their identity, but changing the look.
We also went out on a fish feeding/look at the wrecks cruise, and i had the opportunity to snorkel amoung the ship wrecks out there, getting a really close look and feel to the ships.

This week we’ve been focused on the logo for “Adventure Moreton Island”, and having seen and taken pictures of the shipwreck, we could make some really great sketches. In the end, John decided on the word-play we made with “Adventure Moreton Island” = “Adventure More+on Island”, and one of the shipwreck drawings, just “more wrecked”.

We also showed Nicole the mockup for Tangatours, I made in Photoshop, which she liked, and showed her a couple of the fonts, we were considering; finally deciding for “Vera Sans” as body text, and “GoodDog” for the headlines.

The “GoodDog” font is funny, fresh, abit wacky, and perfect font for ung people and families looking for exciting activities.

Unfortunately Riverlife didn’t get to make a place for Wild Dolphin day spa, but the current Massage & Beauty in the island, will be made into Wild Dolphin Massage & Beauty, så they intent to use the logo, but perhaps skip the mini-website for it.

On these sketches you see 2 different boats, out of the 15, on Moreton Island. The one looking most like a ship, which we decided on, is Platypus II and the other one, is Groper.

We have spend time on deciding on website template design, using websitetravel.com. Websitetravel.com is a company John and Nicole here at Riverlife have decided on using for their new company websites. Wednesday we had arranged a meeting with an employee at Websitetravel, which Nicole apperently knew from earlier.

We had prepared for the meeting by listing all pro and con’s about the different templates, what we would like to change about the design, and which questions we had.
The meeting went very well , and Alex, from Websitetravel had most of the answers, only leaving a few she had to ask the developers about.

We have decided on fonts, size and colours for both 2Australia.com.au website, and Tangatours.com.au, creating logo’s for 2Australia and a new place, Wild Dolphin Day Spa.

Especially the design of Wild Dolphin Day spa took us a large amount of time, as John was busy with meetings, and didn’t think any of the first ideas/sketches we had, was what he wanted – being really unsure about what he actually wanted.

We have already created some sketches to what the logo for Adventure Morton Island could look like – However John feels that the logo won’t be authentic unless we’ve seen the shipwreck we wanted for the logo, which is iconic for Moreton Island.

Fot this reason, we have arranged for sunday to go out and meet The owners, Brad and Karen of Tangalooma Resort (on Moreton Island), which contains the new company, Wild Dolphin Day Spa.

Also in week 9, we’re going to spend 3-4 days at Tangalooma Restort, filming and researching the place. More about that later.

Sketches for the logo:

The location is lovely – on the way down the river you see climbing rocks, lots of green nature and lots of people running, biking or on roller blades.

We begun with a staff meeting, where we got information regarding where the company stands now, what people are doing and what future plans they have for Riverlife, and the new company John and Nikole are starting up, called “2Australia” which is focused on backpackers.

During the first week we’ve planned our work by using the SCRUM board together with a Gantt card. We’ve done a lot of reasearch on backpackers, and interviewed Nicole who’ve been working with backpackers for 2 years.

As 2Australia is a brand new company and website, we’ve begun creating some outcasts for the logo, and the new logo for Moreton Island, which is famous for shipwreck in which you can scuba dive.

We’ve also been granted the task of creating the map struckture and file naming for their image library.
